What is Attention Deficit Disorder or ADHD?
“ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Disorder, which means a condition with symptoms such as inattentiveness, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. The symptoms can vary from person to person. ADHD was formerly called ADD, or attention deficit disorder.”1
ADD or ADHD is a common mental disorder of children and is often diagnosed in a child’s early school years when he or she begins to have problems paying attention in classes. A child with ADHD is usually hyperactive and has uncontrollable impulses. This disorder can continue from childhood to adulthood. An adult person with ADHD is usually unorganized, having trouble in managing his or her time, and may have issues keeping a job due to lack of focus and, therefore, reduced productivity.
